I have owned the 1993 Miata for exactly a week, and I am pleased to report that so far is so good with it – that is to say there have been no surprises so far, knock on wood. The unseasonably warm weather has made it especially easy to get some seat time in the Miata as God intended: with the top down. I’ve logged about 300 miles in the last five days, which is definitely some good car-driver bonding time.

As I get older, I remember less and less. But I remember vividly Tuesday, March 27, 2007 – the day I first drove the Nürburgring. I flew in to London’s Heathrow airport with a 6:00am arrival, where I met up with the editorial team from Mercedes Enthusiast magazine who picked me up in style in a then-new W211 Mercedes E500 sport, and we headed east with me at the wheel. On the wrong side of the car. On about two hours of sleep. We hit the Eurotunnel train to Calais, and drove from there through the farms of Belgium and France and on to the quaint little German hamlet of Nürburg situated in the Eifel mountains. “Quaint” save for one little thing: the Nürburgring.
Essen, Germany isn’t really much to look at. It is somewhat typical of many cities in der Vaterland, having been bombed-out during the second World War and rebuilt using one heck of a lot of grey concrete. It also has the requisite burned-out church tower as a reminder. Not sure what it’s supposed to be a reminder of, ar at least I’m not going to get into that here. There is a bright spot in Essen, though, and it comes once a year to Messe Essen, the city’s huge convention center complex: Techno Classica Essen.

As Car Geeks, we all frequent websites like eBay, Craigslist, and cars.com perusing the ads in search of a killer deal on an interesting car. For me, I usually spend more time doing it 1) when I should be doing something else (like working) and 2) when I have no money to spend even if I find something. In any case, as a resource for our fellow Car Geeks and in an effort to help the rest of you be Totally That Stupid we want to tell you about the best places to look. Today, www.mobile.de is the website on the table.
